How to play

Aim
WASD or the arrow keys move the crosshair over the goal. On a phone, tap the goal.
Power
Hold the space bar (or Enter, or Shoot on a phone) and let go. Past the white mark the ball rises, and at full power it often clears the bar.
Saving
When the opponent shoots, dive with WASD or an arrow key, diagonals too (two keys at once). Go too early and the taker sees it and switches corners.
Shortcuts
P or Esc pauses, M mutes, F toggles full screen.

Frequently asked questions

Is the penalty game free?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no sign-up and nothing to download. There is no money or prize involved, it is just for fun.

How do I take a penalty with the keyboard?

Aim with WASD or the arrow keys, hold the space bar to build power and let go to shoot. A firm but not full-power shot near the post is safest: full power often goes over the bar.

How do I save a penalty?

Dive into a corner as the ball is struck. Move too early and the taker picks the other corner, too late and you will not reach the top corner. Stay on your feet to stop a shot down the middle.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. Tap the goal to aim or to show your keeper where to dive, and hold the Shoot button to build power.

Are the players real?

They are altered names of legends, like in the unlicensed football games of the 1990s, e.g. Oliver Kaan or Robert Lewangolski. The ratings and styles are made up for fun, and the game has no connection with any player or federation.
