Neteller is the Paysafe Group's second e-wallet next to Skrill: a deposit from Neteller reaches a bookmaker in seconds, a card top-up costs 2.5%, a bank withdrawal 1.75% (at least USD 3.50) and currency conversion up to 3.99%, according to Neteller's fee page, checked on 27 October 2026. This Neteller review is for bettors in the UK and the European Economic Area who are deciding whether to open a Neteller account: fees, verification, VIP, the Net+ card, how Neteller works with licensed bookmakers and how it compares with Skrill. Pros
- deposits reach a bookmaker in seconds, and payments to merchants cost 0%,
- the bookmaker sees your wallet, not your bank account or card number,
- currency conversion up to 3.99%, below Skrill's 4.49% on a standard account,
- receiving money from another Neteller user costs nothing,
- four VIP levels, with conversion down to 1.29% at the top,
- regulated by the FCA in the UK and the Central Bank of Ireland in the EEA.
Cons
- card, Trustly and international bank transfer top-ups cost 2.5%, against 0% by bank transfer at Skrill,
- USD 5 a month after 6 months without a login or a transaction,
- no sign-up offer on 27 October 2026, and its past promotions excluded betting merchants,
- the VIP page lists no free bank withdrawals, only discounts at the account manager's discretion,
- many bookmakers exclude e-wallet deposits from their welcome bonuses.
Who is it for? Bettors with accounts at several licensed bookmakers who want to move money in seconds and keep their bank details away from operators, and bettors who convert currency on a standard account. Who is it not for? If you fund everything by card and bet with one bookmaker, Neteller adds a 2.5% top-up fee and little else. If that sounds like you, the Skrill review covers the cheaper-to-fund wallet of the same group.
What is Neteller?
Neteller is an e-wallet launched in 1999 in Canada and owned today by Paysafe Group, which also owns Skrill and Paysafecard. You open an account online with an email address and password, top it up from a bank or card, and pay bookmakers, shops and trading platforms from the balance.
Two Paysafe companies provide it. In the UK and outside the EEA, Neteller is the trading name of Paysafe Financial Services Limited, authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority as an electronic money institution (FRN 900015), as Paysafe's regulatory disclosures state. In the European Economic Area it is Paysafe Payment Solutions Limited (company 626665, Dublin), authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland under number C184986, according to Neteller's terms of use valid from 5 March 2026.
Neteller serves the countries in the drop-down of its sign-up form. It no longer accepts new registrations from India (Neteller support, checked 27 October 2026). The countries where each wallet works are listed in where Skrill and Neteller work.
Why do bettors use Neteller?
Bettors use Neteller because a payment from the wallet lands in a bookmaker account in seconds, costs the bettor 0% and keeps the bank account and card out of the bookmaker's cashier.
- Speed when the odds move. A bank transfer can take hours; a Neteller deposit is there before the price changes.
- Privacy. The bookmaker sees the email address of your wallet. Your card and account numbers stay with Neteller.
- One balance for many bookmakers. With accounts at several operators, the wallet works as the centre of your bankroll, which makes a budget easier to keep, as in our bankroll management rules.
- Cheaper conversion on a standard account. Neteller converts for up to 3.99%, Skrill for 4.49% (both fee pages, checked 27 October 2026).
- VIP for active users. From USD 15,000 of merchant payments a quarter, conversion drops to 3.19% and money transfers stop costing anything.
Neteller with licensed bookmakers
Neteller may be used only with bookmakers licensed where you live: its terms forbid payments to or from operators offering illegal gambling services (terms of use, section 14.2, valid from 5 March 2026).
Many licensed bookmakers list Neteller in their cashier, but not all, and the list changes. Before you top up the wallet for a particular bookmaker, check that Neteller is in its cashier. The rules that matter most:
- Credit cards in Great Britain. Since 14 April 2020, operators licensed by the Gambling Commission may not take gambling payments by credit card, including credit card money passed through an e-wallet. Top up Neteller from a bank or a debit card.
- Your own payment account. Some countries go further: in Germany, licensed operators may accept payments only from a payment account in the player's own name.
- Withdrawals. Many bookmakers pay winnings back the way you deposited, so a Neteller deposit is often paid out to Neteller. Others pay only to a verified bank account.
- Bonuses. Many bookmakers exclude e-wallet deposits from welcome offers. Read the bonus terms before your first deposit, especially for free bets.
- The same name. Your Neteller account and your bookmaker account must be in the same name.
How deposits, payouts and bonus exclusions work market by market is in Skrill and Neteller for betting.
How much does Neteller charge? Fees in 2026
Neteller charges 2.5% to top up by Visa, Mastercard, Trustly or international bank transfer, 1.75% (at least USD 3.50) to withdraw to a bank account and up to 3.99% to convert currency, according to its fee page checked on 27 October 2026.

| Top-up from a local bank | 0–1% |
| Top-up by international bank transfer | 2.5% |
| Top-up by Visa or Mastercard | 2.5% |
| Top-up by Trustly | 2.5% |
| Top-up by Paysafecard | 0–5% |
| Top-up by MB WAY (Portugal) | 0% |
| Payment to a bookmaker or other merchant | 0% |
| Withdrawal to a bank account | 1.75%, min. USD 3.50 |
| Withdrawal to Visa or Mastercard | 0–3.99% |
| Withdrawal by Member Wire | USD 12.75 |

| Currency conversion | up to 3.99% |
| No login or transaction for 6 months | USD 5 a month |
Source: Neteller's fee page, checked on 27 October 2026. Fees are in US dollars or the equivalent in your account currency; the methods you see depend on your country.
Older figures you may still read elsewhere. Some guides still describe a flat USD 10 bank withdrawal; since 12 January 2026 Neteller charges 1.75% with a USD 3.50 minimum. Some put the inactivity fee after 12 months; Neteller's page says 6 months. Few mention that since 1 April 2026 money received onto the Net+ card costs 0.5% (at least USD 1).
What the fees mean in money.
- A USD 100 bank withdrawal costs USD 3.50 (3.5%), because the minimum applies. From USD 200 the percentage takes over: USD 1,000 costs USD 17.50.
- A USD 500 card top-up costs USD 12.50. From a local bank it costs between USD 0 and USD 5.
- Converting USD 1,000 costs up to USD 39.90 at Neteller, against USD 44.90 at Skrill's 4.49%.
The cheapest route for a bettor: top up from a local bank in your account currency, deposit with bookmakers in the same currency, and withdraw to your bank rarely, in amounts of USD 200 or more, so the USD 3.50 minimum does not bite. Every fee, with a calculator for your own amounts, is in Neteller fees explained.
How do you open a Neteller account?
Opening a Neteller account takes one form: country and currency, email and password, a code sent to your email, personal details, your address and a phone number confirmed by SMS, as Neteller's support page describes it (checked 27 October 2026).
- Go to Neteller's sign-up page and choose your country of residence.
- Pick the account currency: the one your bookmaker accounts use, such as GBP or EUR. You cannot switch it later without closing the account.
- Enter your email address and a password, then confirm the email with the one-time code or link, which expires after 15 minutes.
- Add your name, date of birth and address as they appear on your ID.
- Confirm your phone number with the SMS code. Neteller may also ask about your source of wealth and how you plan to use the account.
- Set the 6-digit Secure ID you will use to log in and confirm some payments.
Neteller asks you to register from your own internet connection, without a VPN or proxy. You must be at least 18, and one person may hold one account (terms of use, sections 4.1.1 and 4.2). The full walk-through is in how to open a Neteller account.
Neteller verification and limits
Neteller verifies your identity with a photo of an ID document and a selfie; automated checks usually take a few minutes and a manual review may take 24–72 hours, according to Neteller's upload page, checked on 27 October 2026.
- Identity. In Settings, then Verification & features, photograph your ID with the mobile app (the fastest option) or a webcam, and take a selfie. In some countries Neteller asks you to fund the account first.
- Source of wealth and intended use. You confirm both in a short questionnaire.
- Address. Neteller first tries to match your browser location with your address in selected countries; if that fails, you upload proof of address, such as a recent utility bill.
- Extra documents. Later Neteller may ask for a selfie holding your ID, a card statement or a bank statement.
Your limits rise once your ID is verified, and address verification unlocks the highest ones (Neteller support, checked 27 October 2026). Neteller publishes no limit amounts. Before your first bank withdrawal, Neteller may also ask for a bank statement issued within the last 90 days, in your own name: a review takes about 24 hours and you cannot complete a withdrawal while it is pending (bank account verification). Documents, times and common rejections for both wallets are in Skrill and Neteller verification.
Is there a Neteller sign-up bonus?
Neteller had no offer for new customers on 27 October 2026, and no promo code is needed to open an account. The last offer, the Invite Friends Program, ran from 21 July to 21 September 2026: an invited customer received USD 5 after three payments of at least USD 20 to eligible merchants, and the referrer USD 10 per referral, up to USD 300. Its terms excluded one betting operator.
Neteller's promotions have excluded betting merchants before. The Neteller Rewards promotion of 16 December 2024 to 17 January 2025 named 24 excluded merchants, at least five of them betting operators. If you want a sign-up offer from the Paysafe group, Skrill runs one: see the Skrill sign-up bonus. Past Neteller offers and their dates are in Neteller bonus and promo codes.
Neteller VIP – levels and benefits
Neteller VIP starts at USD 15,000 of payments to merchants in a calendar quarter (Silver) and lowers currency conversion from 3.99% to between 3.19% and 1.29%, according to Neteller's VIP page, checked on 27 October 2026.
| Level | Merchant payments a quarter (USD) | Currency conversion | Money transfers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | – | up to 3.99% | 2.99%, min. USD 0.50 |
| Silver | 15,000 | 3.19% | 0% |
| Gold | 45,000 | 2.79% | 0% |
| Diamond | 150,000 | 2.39% | 0% |
| Exclusive | 600,000 | 1.29% | 0% |
Source: Neteller VIP and VIP FAQ, checked on 27 October 2026. The VIP page notes that a 1.45% money transfer fee applies in certain countries and levels. The fee page says VIP conversion goes down to "as little as 1%"; the VIP page's lowest rate is 1.29%, which we use.
What counts. Payments to merchants, which include bookmaker deposits, and crypto buy and sell transactions. Net+ card payments and person-to-person transfers, including those between your own accounts, do not count, and UK account holders' crypto transactions do not count either (VIP terms of use, valid from 1 February 2021).
When it applies. Status starts the day after you reach the threshold and lasts for the rest of that quarter and the next one. Fall short in a quarter and you lose it.
What else VIPs get. A dedicated VIP manager and 24/7 email support in English at every level, a personal account manager from Gold, according to the FAQ, a Net+ Prepaid Mastercard at no charge, a multi-currency account, priority bank uploads and higher limits. VIP status does not remove transaction limits by itself. Deposits and withdrawals are discounted only at the account manager's decision.
Is VIP worth it? A bettor who deposits USD 5,000 a month with bookmakers reaches USD 15,000 a quarter and Silver from the day after. On a USD 5,000 conversion, Silver's 3.19% saves USD 40 against 3.99%. Unlike Skrill's VIP page, Neteller's lists no free bank withdrawals, so the 1.75% stays unless your manager agrees otherwise.
Net+ Prepaid Mastercard
The Net+ Prepaid Mastercard costs USD 10 to apply for and USD 10 a year, charges 1.75% (at least USD 1) at cash machines and 3.99% on payments in another currency, according to Neteller's fee page checked on 27 October 2026.
- the first virtual card costs nothing, and a replacement for a cancelled one USD 2.50,
- payments in shops, restaurants and online cost 0%,
- money received onto the card costs 0.5%, at least USD 1, since 1 April 2026,
- a replacement for a lost physical card costs USD 10,
- VIPs get the card at no charge.
The physical card is only for residents of authorised EEA countries and the UK (Neteller VIP FAQ). It draws only on your primary currency balance: card payments cannot use a secondary balance (Neteller support). Card payments do not count towards VIP. The card is optional and worth ordering only if you want to spend straight from the wallet.
Neteller for surebets and bonus hunting
For surebets Neteller is useful because a deposit reaches the bookmaker in seconds; the costs to watch are the 2.5% card top-up and conversion of up to 3.99%, both above the 1–3% a typical surebet returns.
- Fund it from a bank. A local bank deposit at 0–1% keeps the cost below a typical surebet; a 2.5% card top-up does not.
- Keep one currency. Converting USD 1,000 costs up to USD 39.90, several surebets' profit. Open the wallet in the currency of your bookmaker accounts.
- Do not move money between wallets. Neteller to Skrill costs 3.49%. If you hold both, fund each from your bank.
- Check bonus terms first. If a bookmaker excludes e-wallets from an offer, make that first deposit by debit card or bank transfer.
Surebet Monitor's surebet calculator splits the stakes, and its Neteller review for arbitrage bettors goes through the wallet from an arber's side. Bookmakers limit accounts that only take surebets, as we explain in maximum bet limits.
Is Neteller safe?
Neteller is regulated: in the UK by the Financial Conduct Authority through Paysafe Financial Services Limited (FRN 900015), and in the EEA by the Central Bank of Ireland through Paysafe Payment Solutions Limited (C184986).
Neteller's terms say the EEA company follows the legal requirements of the European Communities (Electronic Money) Regulations 2011, and they also say plainly that e-money accounts are not bank accounts and are not insured by any government agency (sections 3.3 and 3.4). Keep in the wallet what you need for betting, not your savings.
Your account is protected by:
- a 6-digit Secure ID for logging in and some payments (Neteller support),
- strong customer authentication: an SMS code, an email code with your Secure ID, or a push notification in the app, each code valid for 15 minutes,
- up to 5 trusted devices, on which the extra step is skipped.
The weakest point is your email: whoever controls it can reset access. Secure your mailbox with two-factor authentication and treat any message "from Neteller" asking for your login as phishing. Offers of "verified" Neteller accounts for sale break the one-account rule and end in blocked funds. More on both wallets' regulation and the scams around them is in are Skrill and Neteller safe.
Common problems and how to avoid them
Most Neteller problems come from five places: a failed or slow bank withdrawal, a pending bank account check, the inactivity fee, a currency you cannot change and a locked Secure ID.
A bank withdrawal fails or takes days. Neteller says a bank withdrawal may take from 1 day up to 5 business days, cannot be cancelled once started, and fails when the bank account is not supported, is in someone else's name, has wrong details or blocks money from Neteller (Neteller support, checked 27 October 2026). How to avoid it: use a personal account in your own name and copy the IBAN and SWIFT code from your banking app. Times and costs for both wallets are in Skrill and Neteller withdrawals.
A withdrawal waits for the bank account check. The bank statement review takes about 24 hours, and no withdrawal goes through until it ends. How to avoid it: verify your bank account straight after sign-up, before you need the money.
The inactivity fee. After 6 months without a login or a transaction, Neteller deducts USD 5 a month. How to avoid it: log in every few months, or empty and close an account you no longer use.
The wrong account currency. Neteller cannot switch your primary currency. To change it you empty the balance, close the account and register a new one with a different email address, losing access to your transaction history and your Net+ card (Neteller support). How to avoid it: choose the currency of your bookmaker accounts at sign-up. For a second currency, open a secondary balance in the Exchange section instead.
A locked Secure ID. Enter the wrong Secure ID too many times and you have to reset it by email, which often lands in spam. How to avoid it: keep the Secure ID somewhere safe and add your phone as a trusted device.
Neteller vs Skrill
Neteller and Skrill are both Paysafe Group e-wallets: Skrill is cheaper to fund (0% by bank transfer, up to 1.25% by card) and Neteller is cheaper to convert currency on a standard account (up to 3.99% against 4.49%), according to both fee pages checked on 27 October 2026.
| Neteller | Skrill | |
|---|---|---|
| Top-up by bank transfer | 0–1% local, 2.5% international | 0% |
| Top-up by card | 2.5% | up to 1.25% |
| Payment to a bookmaker | 0% | 0% |
| Withdrawal to a bank account | 1.75%, min. USD 3.50 | 1.75%, min. €3.50 |
| Currency conversion, standard | up to 3.99% | 4.49% |
| First VIP level | USD 15,000 a quarter, 3.19% | €15,000 a quarter, 2.89% |
| Second VIP level | USD 45,000 a quarter, 2.79% | €45,000 a quarter, 2.59% |
| Lowest VIP conversion | 1.29% (USD 600,000 a quarter) | 1.99% (€90,000 a quarter) |
| Bank withdrawals for VIPs | discount at the manager's discretion | 0% from Silver |
| Inactivity fee | USD 5 a month after 6 months | €5 a month after 6 months |
| Transfer to the other wallet | 3.49% | 3.49% |
| Prepaid card | USD 10 to apply, USD 10 a year | €10 to order, €10 a year |
| Offer for new customers | none | Mission Deposit Bonus, 20 May to 31 December 2026 |
Sources: Neteller fees, Neteller VIP, Skrill fees, Skrill VIP and the Mission Deposit Bonus terms, all checked on 27 October 2026. Skrill's offer is for new customers in France, Germany, Italy, Poland and the UK, and its terms listed no excluded merchants on that day.
The table gives a plain verdict. For small amounts topped up by bank transfer, Skrill costs less. For currency conversion on a standard account, Neteller costs less. At VIP volumes Skrill wins again: at the same thresholds its Silver and Gold rates are lower, and its bank withdrawals become 0%. Many bettors keep both, because bookmakers differ in which wallet they accept. The same round trip costed in both wallets is in Skrill vs Neteller, and the other wallet in detail in our Skrill review.
Frequently asked questions about Neteller
Is Neteller legal in the UK?
Yes. In the UK Neteller is provided by Paysafe Financial Services Limited, authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority as an electronic money institution (FRN 900015). Use it for betting only with operators licensed by the Gambling Commission.
Is Neteller the same company as Skrill?
Neteller and Skrill are separate wallets of the same owner, Paysafe Group. They have separate accounts and fee tables, and moving money from one to the other costs 3.49%.
How much does Neteller charge to withdraw to a bank account?
Neteller charges 1.75% with a minimum of USD 3.50 to withdraw to a bank account, since 12 January 2026 (fee page, checked 27 October 2026). A USD 1,000 withdrawal costs USD 17.50; the old flat USD 10 fee no longer applies.
How long does a Neteller withdrawal take?
A Neteller bank withdrawal may take from 1 day up to 5 business days, according to Neteller's support page checked on 27 October 2026. The expected time is shown when you start the withdrawal, and a first withdrawal can wait about 24 hours for the bank account check.
Does Neteller have a sign-up bonus or promo code?
No. On 27 October 2026 Neteller had no offer for new customers and no code is needed to open an account. Its last offer, Invite Friends, ended on 21 September 2026.
Which bookmakers accept Neteller?
Many bookmakers licensed in the UK and the EEA list Neteller in their cashier, but not all, and the list changes. Check the bookmaker's cashier and bonus terms before you top up the wallet.
How do I become a Neteller VIP?
You become a Neteller VIP by making USD 15,000 of payments to merchants, bookmaker deposits included, in a calendar quarter. Status starts the day after and lasts for the rest of that quarter and the next one.
Can I change the currency of my Neteller account?
Not directly. Neteller cannot switch your primary currency: you would empty and close the account and register again with a different email address. A secondary balance in another currency, opened in the Exchange section, avoids that.
How we rate Neteller
The 4.1/5 rating is the opinion of the SharkBetz editorial team. We look at regulation and security, the cost of a bettor's typical transactions, payment speed, acceptance at licensed bookmakers, the VIP programme and the support process. Neteller scores below Skrill's 4.3 because its top-ups cost more, it had no offer for new customers on the day we checked and its VIP page lists no free bank withdrawals. We have not run test transactions on a Neteller account yet: the times in this review are Neteller's own published ones. We check the fees against Neteller's fee table and update this review when they change.
SharkBetz may receive a commission for sign-ups through partner links. This does not affect the fees we describe or the cons we list.
Verdict – is a Neteller account worth it?
A Neteller account is worth it if you bet with several licensed bookmakers that accept it and can fund it from a local bank: deposits arrive in seconds, the bookmaker never sees your bank details and conversion costs less than Skrill's on a standard account. The weak points are the 2.5% card top-up, the USD 5 inactivity fee and the lack of a sign-up offer.
Our verdict:
- bettors with several bookmakers: fast and private, if you fund it from a bank,
- bettors who convert currency on a standard account: cheaper than Skrill,
- high volumes: VIP lowers conversion, but Skrill's VIP gives more at the same thresholds,
- card-only funding with one bookmaker: the 2.5% fee outweighs the gain.
If Neteller fits how you bet, open a Neteller account in the currency of your bookmaker accounts and verify it before you need the money.
Bet responsibly
Sports betting is for adults only (18+, or the higher legal age where you live) and you can lose money. An e-wallet makes payments easier but does not change the rules: set a budget before you bet, use the bookmaker's deposit limits and never chase your losses. If you notice signs of a gambling problem, get help, for example from BeGambleAware or Gambling Therapy.
Only bet with operators licensed where you live. In Great Britain, check the operator's licence in the Gambling Commission's public register.
A second wallet for your arbs
Open an account, keep your bankroll in the currency you bet in and move it to bookmakers in seconds.
