Skrill fees explained: every charge, worked examples and a round-trip calculator

Skrill fees are 0% for a top-up by bank transfer or BLIK and 0% for a payment to a merchant, but Skrill charges 1.75% (at least €3.50) to withdraw to a bank account and 4.49% to convert currency, according to Skrill's fee page checked on 27 October 2026. This guide is for bettors who want to know what a full round trip costs before they open or fund a wallet: every fee in one table, worked examples, the VIP rates, the cheapest route and the figures older guides get wrong. It covers Skrill outside the US, where Skrill USA, Inc. runs a separate service.

Key takeaways

  • Skrill charges 0% to top up by bank transfer or BLIK, up to 1.25% by card and 0% to pay a merchant, according to its fee page checked on 27 October 2026.
  • A bank withdrawal costs 1.75% with a €3.50 minimum, so taking out €20 costs €3.50 (17.5%) and the minimum stops mattering from €200.
  • Currency conversion costs 4.49% on a standard account, €4.49 on a €100 payment, and 2.89% to 1.99% for VIP members.
  • After 6 months without a login or a transaction Skrill deducts €5 a month, not after 12 months as older guides say.
  • Since 1 April 2026 the Skrill Prepaid Mastercard charges 0.50%, at least €1.00, on money received on the card.

Skrill is the Paysafe Group e-wallet. Outside the EEA, including the UK, accounts are held with Skrill Limited (FCA FRN 900001); in the EEA, with Paysafe Payment Solutions Limited, supervised by the Central Bank of Ireland (Skrill help, checked 27 October 2026).

Is Skrill free?

Skrill is not free across the board: its fee page lists 0% for bank transfer and BLIK top-ups and for payments to merchants, and charges for withdrawals, currency conversion, transfers to other users and inactivity (checked 27 October 2026). The cost of a Skrill account therefore sits at the end of the round trip, when you take money out, not at the start.

How much does Skrill charge to withdraw to a bank account?

Skrill charges 1.75% to withdraw to a bank account, with a minimum of €3.50, and its help page says the money takes 1 to 5 business days to arrive (fee page and Skrill help, checked 27 October 2026). The minimum makes small withdrawals expensive:

From our own use: our Skrill withdrawals to a bank, made over years of betting, arrived within the time Skrill gives, like any standard bank transfer, and deposits from Skrill at bookmakers were credited at once.

The minimum stops mattering from €200, because 1.75% of €200 is exactly €3.50. Below that, one larger withdrawal costs less than several small ones. Withdrawing to a Visa or Mastercard costs up to 3.99% with a €0.99 minimum, which at the full rate applies below €24.81, and VIP members pay 1.99% for it. How long each route takes is in our guide to Skrill and Neteller withdrawals.

What is Skrill's currency conversion fee?

Skrill adds 4.49% to every currency conversion on a standard account, so a €100 payment from a wallet held in another currency costs €4.49 extra (fee page, checked 27 October 2026). The same fee applies when you receive money in a currency other than your wallet's. VIP members pay less, and Skrill's VIP page sets the level by your transactions in a calendar quarter, with the new status applying from the following quarter:

LevelVolume in a quarter (EUR)Conversion feeFee on €1,000 converted (EUR)

Gold45,0002.59%25.90
Diamond90,0001.99%19.90

Checked on 27 October 2026 on Skrill's VIP page.

A payment with the Skrill Prepaid Mastercard in another currency costs 3.99%, less than the wallet's own 4.49%.

How much is a Skrill to Skrill transfer?

Sending money to another Skrill user costs 2.99%, at least €0.50, and receiving it costs nothing unless Skrill converts the currency (fee page, checked 27 October 2026). True Skriller accounts pay 1.45% with the same €0.50 minimum, and the VIP page lists no send fee for Silver, Gold and Diamond. Transfers between users do not count towards Skrill's sign-up offer: the Mission Deposit Bonus terms exclude person-to-person transactions (clause 5.4), as our Skrill sign-up bonus guide explains.

Does Skrill charge an inactivity fee?

Skrill deducts a service fee of €5.00 (or the equivalent) every month once an account has gone 6 months without a login or a transaction, according to its fee page checked on 27 October 2026. One login every 6 months avoids it.

What does the Skrill Prepaid Mastercard cost?

The Skrill Prepaid Mastercard costs €10 to order and €10 a year, and since 1 April 2026 Skrill also charges 0.50%, at least €1.00, on money received on the card (fee page, checked 27 October 2026). Any load up to €200 therefore costs €1.00. Cash machine withdrawals cost 1.75% (minimum €1.00), card payments in shops carry no fee, and each virtual card after the first costs €2.50. Skrill offers the card in 32 European countries and territories, the UK included (Skrill help, checked 27 October 2026), and VIP members pay neither the order nor the annual fee.

Which Skrill fees do older guides get wrong?

Older guides still quote 3.99% for Skrill's currency conversion; Skrill's fee page says 4.49% (checked 27 October 2026). Four figures that older guides print:

  • Currency conversion: 3.99% in older guides, 4.49% today. 3.99% is the prepaid card's conversion rate and the top rate for card withdrawals, not the wallet's.
  • Inactivity: "after 12 months" in older guides, 6 months today.
  • Bank withdrawal: "3.49% plus €5.50" in some calculators, 1.75% with a €3.50 minimum today.
  • Prepaid card: the 0.50% fee on money received, in effect since 1 April 2026, is missing from older guides.

What does a full round trip cost?

A €100 round trip through Skrill costs €3.50 when you top up by bank transfer and pay in your wallet currency, and up to €9.24 when you top up by card and pay in another currency (fee page, checked 27 October 2026). The difference is the route, not the amount:

StepRoute A: bank transfer, same currency (EUR)Route B: card, another currency (EUR)

Calculated from Skrill's fee page, checked on 27 October 2026. If money comes back to the wallet in the other currency, Skrill converts it again at 4.49%.

How do Skrill's fees compare with Neteller's?

Skrill is cheaper to top up and Neteller is cheaper to convert currency: a card top-up costs up to 1.25% at Skrill and 2.5% at Neteller, while conversion costs 4.49% at Skrill and up to 3.99% at Neteller (both fee pages, checked 27 October 2026).

What is the cheapest way to use Skrill?

The cheapest Skrill route is a wallet in the currency you pay in, topped up by bank transfer or BLIK at 0%, with withdrawals of €200 or more so the €3.50 minimum stops mattering (fee page, checked 27 October 2026). In practice:

  1. Pick the wallet currency at sign-up. If you bet in pounds, open the wallet in pounds; our guide on how to open a Skrill account shows where you choose it.
  2. Top up by bank transfer. Every method and its cost is in how to top up Skrill and Neteller.
  3. Pay merchants in the same currency. A bookmaker deposit is a merchant payment and costs 0%, but check first whether the bookmaker pays winnings back to Skrill or only to a bank: the rules are in Skrill and Neteller for betting.
  4. Withdraw less often, in larger amounts, and log in at least once every 6 months.
  5. Verify early. Withdrawals and higher limits need a verified account, as Skrill and Neteller verification explains.

If those fees work for you, open a Skrill account in the currency you will use. Our Skrill review covers the rest: security, the VIP programme and customer service.
